I cringed while looking through some old photo albums, as I looked at my 10-year-old-self in a school photo---with an uneven haircut, awkward cheesy expression, and ridiculous outfit (yep... I actually begged Mom to buy that dress).
Did I really look like that?
In the few images from that time in my life I can find in this yellowed album (I found it when cleaning out the home my mom lived in). The evidence would say yes. I am sure I must have had some redeeming qualities... right?
Babies are obviously adorable with their emerging personalities and chubby little cheeks. Toddlers have those big, bright eyes and lets face it, everything they do is CUTE (OK Maybe not everything like having a temper tantrum in the grocery store aisle)… But those tween ages are often forgotten. At ages 9-12, kids aren't children anymore but aren't quite teens, either. They are literally “in-between”
I’m making it one of my photographic missions to capture those lost preteen years.
The goal is to help tweens look and feel AMAZING and have unshakable confidence in themselves when they hit middle school.
Introducing The "Who I Am" Project
I'm starting the "Who I am" photography project to fill in the forgotten photo years while enriching the lives of pre-teens. The main goal is to make pre-teens look and feel amazing and be confident in who they are.
Who Is This For?
I want boys and girls for the project, ages 9-12, whatever their interests and quirks! I will ask them and their parents---and others close to them---a few questions (not anything hard, but meant to inspire some reflection). These answers will be used to help create meaningful combinations of true and loving statements with images.
Why "Who I Am"?
I want to capture the the personality of these tweens who I and others recognize as talented, funny, smart, and with amazing emerging abilities! We think it’s IMPORTANT to record this forgotten stage of their childhood BEAUTIFULLY---not just with images but also powerful words.
We want them to realize their true inner strength so that they are confident in themselves NOW.
How To Participate:
Please respond below if you are interested in having your child participate in this project. OR you can forward this to others you think would be perfect for this offer and enjoy the boutique experience I provide.
The goal is to create a gorgeous group of photos you’ll love and that truly show your child’s spirit!
Many people like to use these photos as birthday, Mother's Day, and "just because" gifts for their daughter or son.
The in-studio session itself is complimentary and includes $50 in product credit (a total $179 value). Our special portrait collections start at $395, but there is no purchase required.
I am, however, super excited about the cool new products I've created especially for this project.
The photos are SO amazing and truly they are a gift I will appreciate for a lifetime. The best part was how much fun Maddie had with her doing it! - Madeline's mom, Elizabeth Bleser
