It’s August in Chicago and it’s hard to remember a recent one that has been so rainy! Rescheduling my seniors for their portrait sessions has been the rule this year.
Abby is a tall, talented, and beautiful senior at Downers Grove North High School. She is a leader on her cheerleading squad, for which she has participated for her entire high school career. During the summer months she works at a local country club as a lifeguard, and spends time with her family, including a vacation to the east coast.
When we finally got a day that worked for everyone, it was time to get started... and that meant a professional make-up application by Genna Wernon. It’s a small investment that never fails to elevate beauty to a higher level while taking the pressure off the girls. Another great job done Genna!
We headed out to my favorite west suburban garden spot. We were a bit concerned about concurrent events scheduled this evening there, but our concerns were unfounded as we found the most beautiful areas of the garden uncrowded.
Apparently the antique car show and a couple other events were going on elsewhere. A group of segway riders, however, did take us by surprise. Who knew there were segway tours out here! I am always surprised what I can learn new about a place I think I know.
Time To Shine
We started a bit dressy... in a cute blue textured dress that showed off her shoulders and complimented the color of her eyes. I can never resist a close-up!
Abby was a well-prepared senior to work with She came prepared with an array of outfit options and matching statement and understated jewelry pieces.
We had mom there to help with all of it, and appreciated her attention to detail!
It is is so great to have options, and better too many than not enough.
This top reflects a current trend in off-the-shoulder styling, and paired with a little necklace bling and some distressed jeans for a casual vibe.
After that we went with a black and white theme.
The evening was warm and humid, as seemed to be the trend all summer long. We were having fun with some of the garden decor such as this cute bike and some signature big yellow chairs. This dreamy look fit the feel of the setting sun and the warmth of sultry summer night.
These sessions help remind me how much I love to photograph seniors. It's such a pivotal moment in the lives of the kids and the families who are getting ready to launch their kids into the bigger world.
