Celebrating the new seniors..class of 2020
May probably gets it’s name from the word “mayhem” (or vice-versa). It’s that time of transition. The weather changes dramatically, and the kids are finishing up the school year.
Graduation comes upon us and leaves us wondering how it happened so fast. Pride, love, fear, and trepidation can hit all at once.
It’s felt even more by the parents of juniors...who can’t ignore the fact that this will be the last full year they’ll have this child safely in their nest.
Suddenly it’s time to go on college visits and talk about what the next step will be. All the grades, test scores, and other efforts spent building a good-looking college resume become large.
The class of ‘20 promises to be ever more technologically reliant, hyper-aware, cynical, and entrepreneurial than their predecessor gen-Z’ers were
Mini model sessions offered
Around here, May is the kick-off to Senior Photo Season. This year I introduced “DWP Senior Week” to celebrate the incoming senior class.
The first step was to offer free 10-15 min photo model sessions. Then these seniors would be featured on the actual Senior Week (May 12-18) each day. Plus every day included an instagram drawing for a gift certificate, just to make things fun!
Making it fun with give-aways
I kept my giveaways local, right in my town, and to places that the winners would enjoy visiting.
They included Peets Coffee, Every Day’s a Sundae, Bangle Boulevard Boutique, Bertos Deli, and Rocco & Rocco Salon.
My models were great! They came from not only our hometown schools, Downers North and Downers South, but also St Charles North, and Naperville North.
Each was very different in her style, the sports, activities, and causes she is involved in, and aspirations for senior year and beyond. Some will come back for their sessions this summer, when I’ll get to know them better. All seem pretty happy to have the rigors of Junior year behind them.
Senior Week will be an annual event at DWP. Senior photo sessions are beginning soon with a variety of packages available and appointments filling up now.
I loved my mini session! Deb is so fun to work with, and she had super fun ideas of how to photograph me and express who I am through her art! Before I came, I was worried that I wouldn’t find any pictures I loved because of the short amount of time, but I was able to find plenty, because Deb is awesome!!
